The Sphinxes of Oros as they are known to the Valyrians and the Butchers of Old Ghis to everyone else for leading the conquest of the Ghiscari Empire. This house is known for the many great knights that have come from its bloodline. While many houses have had legendary knights in their lineages through the long history of Valyria none have had so many as House Belaerys.
During the founding of Valyria, the House’s founder was supposedly Jaehaera who claimed the dragon, Vassarion the Pale Lady.
In current times, House Belaerys is ruled by Dragonlord Aemond, known by his nickname Dream Breaker. He is amongst the Valyrian Freehold’s most respected and feared generals with a near unblemished record of military success. He has, however, run into a minor issue of late which is a proclivity for bearing sons. Among his seven children, he has only one daughter and among his extended family only 1 sister and 1 niece. This has created a great deal of competition among the men of his family for who gets who.
Their fief is Oros and their primary rivals are the Spyres of Aquos Dhaen.
