The hidden Spyres of Aquos Dhaen as they are known. They have a dark reputation as they are known to be ruthless and amoral to the highest degree. Kinslaying is common among them and they encourage a ruthless Darwinian approach to house politics.

This creates some of the finest politicians and spymasters in all of the freehold at the cost of many a young Spyre. This has made House Spyre by far the smallest Great House but its members have the highest individual quality and their network extends across the whole of the Valyrian Freehold.

Its current Dragonlord is Daemon the Fireweaver considered not only the most well connected man in the freehold but among its greatest, and only, living Shadowbinders as well a trait he has been aiming to pass onto the lineage as a whole. His spy network supposedly stretches around the globe even to lands unknown. The house was founded by Aenar the Unseen who claimed Valerion The Everborn.

Its fief is Aquos Dhaen and due to their location and their long standing disagreements about honor and tradition their greatest rivals are the Vhassars of Draconys and Belaerys of Oros.
