The Wardens of Tyrosh the most colorfully dressed miserably and stoic people in the entire world. House Valaerys is well known for being a stoic and dour lot despite their wealth and power and it used to be they dressed so too. Then the people of Tyrosh discovered sea snails that make finer and richer dyes around the city than anywhere else in the entire world.

Other than House Nhalaryn, House Valaerys are the farthest from the heart of Valyria of the Great Houses and even among the rest of the Dragonlord Houses. They rule from the most fortified fortress, the bleeding tower, in the most fortified Valyrian city, Tyrosh. They are the Sea Wardens of the Valyrian Freehold whose fleet is of the highest quality and size in the entire Freehold. Every member of House Valaerys is as much an Admiral as a Dragonlord learning to sail and lead a fleet. They are known to be the most grim and willful Valyrians in the entire world with every Valaerys being filled with an iron will to match their reputation.

Their current lord is Rykkalio Saltblood, an old and grizzled veteran of 240 years who is known to be the most experienced Admiral in the Valyrian Freehold. Their founder is Saeral who rode Snagga the Seaflame.

Their fief is Tyrosh and their primary rivals are the Nhalaryns and the Cyzoths.
